Objective To explore the practical value of multifunctional protective oxygen inhalation mask in high-flow oxygen therapy, infection prevention and control, simultaneous treatment, and prevention of pressure injuries. Methods A total of 200 sick and wounded patients requiring oxygen therapy support who were admitted to the Third Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from July 2023 to June 2025 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group (n=100) and a control group (n=100). The observation group used the developed multifunctional protective oxygen masks, while the control group used the traditional oronasal oxygen inhalation masks. Indicators including oxygen therapy effect, infection rate, convenience of simultaneous treatment, incidence of pressure injuries, and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results In the observation group,PaO2 reached (85.23±2.89) mmHg and SpO2 reached(96.79±1.09)% at 24h after oxygen therapy, and the improvement was significantly better than PaO2 (76.16±2.67) mmHg and SpO2 (95.13±2.04)% in the control group at the same time point, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The incidence of pressure injuries in the observation group was 2.0%, significantly lower than 10.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The average single time consumption of simultaneous treatment in the observation group was (2.72±0.59)min and the convenience score was(8.85±0.48) points, both significantly better than (5.87±0.29) min and (5.57±0.68) points in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The patient satisfaction score in the observation group was (92.12±2.35), significantly higher than (81.79±2.53) in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of cross-infection between the two groups. Conclusions The multifunctional protective oxygen inhalation mask can effectively improve the oxygen therapy effect, reduce the incidence of pressure injuries, ensure the smooth implementation of simultaneous treatment, and enhance patient satisfaction.
