Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of self-etching primer and composite resin in repair of posterior restorations. Methods 344 molars were randomly divided into two groups. 171 molars in the experimental group were treated with Clearifil self-etching bond and Z250 to repair dental defects while 173 molars in the control group were treated with Single Bond and Z250. 344 molars were followed up for one week, three months and six months respectively to check post-operation sensitivity, color match, anatomic form, marginal adaptation and secondary caries according to Rege’s criteria. Result One case had temporary sensitivity after one week in the experimental group while seven cases presented post-operative sensitivity in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P0.05). Conclusion Self-etching bond and composite resin for posterior restorations can achieve satisfactory clinical results, able to simplify the operation, lower the occurrence of postoperative sensitivity and control chemical curing more easily.
