Objective To analyze the extremities disability caused by war injuries and propose medical service countermeasures. Methods Injuries to extremities in past wars were studied according to the theory of medical services and battle surgery. By means of literature review, expert consultation, statistical analysis and logical induction, such characteristics of extremities trauma in previous wars as the high incidence rate, low mortality rate and high disability rate were investigated. Cause analysis was performed to seek medical service countermeasure to reduce the disability rate. Results Medical service countermeasures against disability included timely first aid on the front line and early wound debridement. Conclusion The results will improve the medical support measures for extremities injuries and are also important for the recovery of combat capability.
