Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of appropriate amount of rehabilitation training exercise on functional status and relapse rate in patients with multiple sclerosis. Methods 140 pationts with multiple sclerosis within three months were randomly divided into observation group (105 cases, further divided into subgroups of low rehabilitation training intensity exercise, medium exercise therapy group, and hihg exercise therapy 35 each) and a control group of 35 cases. All patients with multiple sclerosis underwent conventional rehabilitation care and drug treatment in the observation group (low, medium and high exercise groups) at the same time given 40 min/2 times/d of rehabilitation functional training, for a conrse of 12 weeks. Before treatment and at 12 weeks of treatment, Kurtzke functional barrier state was assessed. The Functional Independence Measure (FIM) scale score and relapse rate after treatment were compared to determine efficacy. Results After 12 weeks of treatment, ① In the observation group (low, medium and high exercise group) in any subgroup, the state of the motor function and the relapse rate were significantly better than those in the control group. ② In subgroups of observation group: the efficacy of motor function in the exercise group after treatment and the relapse rate were significantly better than those in the low and high exercise groups. Conclusion Appropriate amount of rehabilitation training has a significant effect on the functional status in patients with multiple sclerosis and reduces the relapse rate.
