Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of Vitamin E on concentration of TG, TG, LDL, HDL in blood serum of patients with hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy. Method Thirty-seven women who suffered from gestational hypertension and preeclampsia and 30 normal pregnant women were recruited. 21 of the 37 women took vitamin E 40 mg/d by mouth in the 37 women, the other 16 women took nothing. 15 of the 30 normal pregnant women took vitamin E 40 mg/d by mouth in, the other 15 women took nothing. Venous blood was taken and lipid was detected before delivery. Results The concentration of TG, TG, LDL in group of taking vitamin E was lower than that in not taking vitamin E group and control group (P<0.05), The concentration of HDL in group of taking vitamin E was higher than that in not taking vitamin E group (P<0.05). Conclusions Vitamin E can depresses the concentration of TG, TG, LDL and increases the concentration of HDL.
