Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of GreenTM Or and Er: YAG laser treating dentine hypersensitivity after occlusal rest preparation. Methods A total of 90 subjects were recruited into the study and distributed into 3 balanced groups. The sensitivity scores were recorded in visual analogue scale (VAS) by the subjects. The teeth in each group were treated with one of 2 kinds of desensitizing treatments. The desensitizing efficacy was evaluated before and immediately after treatment, and 4 months after treatment. Results Immediately after the treatment, the efficacy of GreenTM Or and Er: YAG laser groups were better than the control group(P<0.05), and no significant difference was identified between the two groups. Four months after treatment, the efficacy of Er:YAG laser group was better than the GreenTM group(P<0.05), and no significant difference was identified between the control group and GreenTM group. Conclusions GreenTM shows a good efficacy in short term treatment of tooth hypersensitivity, while the Er:YAG laser shows a long efficacy in treatment of hypersensitivity.
