Abstract

Objective To evaluate the pathological diagnostic values of lymphoid follicle heperplasia in chronic gastritis with Helicobacter pylori infection. Methods Clinical epidemiology was conducted to analyse the results of lymphoid follicle heperplasia as diagnostic criteria to scan and compare with “golden standard” of histopathologic diagnosis of chronic gastritis. Results Using lymphoid follicle heperplasia as diagnostic standard to diagnose Helicobacter pylori infective gastritis, the diagnostic accuracy was 79.35% in 1385 cases, the sensitivity was 79.43%, the specificity was 79.18%,the positive predictive value was 89.22%, positive likelihood ratio was 3.93. The misdiagnostic rate was 20.82% in 1385 cases , under diagnostic rate was 20.57%,the negative predictive value was 79.18%,and negative likelihood ratio was 0.26. Conclusions Lymphoid follicle heperplasia is proved to be one of classical histopathological morphologic features of chronic gastritis with Helicobacter pylori infection. It can serve as one of the important markers for pathological diagnosis, but not the only one.
