Abstract

Objective To establish three-dimensional reconstruction and the finite element model of the foot from the CT data and to analyze finite element of the tarsometatarsal joints in quasi-static load. Methods An adult woman underwent spiral CT scanning on foot. The obtained images were processed by Mimics、Ansys and GUG for the establishment of three-dimensional finite element digital model. Then a finite analysis of the tarsometatarsal joints in quasi-static load was made. Results The three-dimensional finite element digital model was established, including all the bones, the main ligaments, the skin and the soft tissue of foot. The finite element analysis of the tarsometatarsal joints in normal conditions and in the crushing injuries was carried out. The images of equivalent stress distribution were obtained. Conclusions In the stress of the tarsometatarsal joints M2 is larger than others in these conditions. The stress of M2 is focused on the base and the plantar sides.
