Abstract

Objective To investigate the factors influencing prognostic of patients undergoing gastrectomy. Methods From January 2009 to January 2010 in this hospital, 60 patients received radical gastrectomy. Their clinical data, including gender, age, TNM stage, tumor size, histological grade, surgical approach, distant metastasis, and recurrence, were collected. Results Of all 60 apatients, 30 had recurrence and /or metastasis, accounting for 50%. Peritoneal metastasis occurred in 5 cases, bone metastasis in 1 case, pelvic metastases in two cases, ovarian metastasis in 2 cases, lung metastasis in four cases, and liver metastases in six cases. Local recurrence in 10 cases. Histological grade, TNM stage, and tumor size were prognostic factors affecting gastric cancer patients (P<0.05). Cox regression analysis found that the histological type and TNM stage were independent prognostic factors affecting patients with radical gastrectomy (P<0.05). Conclusion The key to improving the survival rate of patients with gastric cancer lies in comprehensive prevention and control measures to reduce the morbidity and mortality of patients with gastric cancer.
