Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical effects and homodynamic responses to tracheal intubation with the Airtraq laryngoscope and the Macintosh laryngoscope after general anesthesia induction without muscle relaxant. Methods Fifty patients scheduled for cervical surgery under general anesthesia, ASAⅠ-Ⅱ, 20-50 years old, were randomly divided into two groups (group A and group M), 25 patients each group. All patients receired induction anesthesia with propofol 2.5 mg/kg and remifentanil 1.5 μg/kg intravenous injection. After injection for 2 minutes, the anesthetist performed intubation using the Airtraq laryngoscope (group A) or the Macintosh laryngoscope (group M). According to tracheal intubation condition assessment criteria, evaluate the satisfaction rate of intubation was evaluated, and the homodynamic changes during intubation were observed. Results Patients’ intubation in each group was performed successfully by once. In group A, intubation satisfaction rate was 96%, and in group M was 75%. There were significant changes between group A and group M (P<0.05). During intubation and 3 min after intubation, homodynamic changes in group M were remarkably different from those in group A (P<0.05). Conclusions After general anesthesia induction without muscle relaxant, compared with Macintosh laryngoscope, the Airtraq laryngoscope achieves better glottis exposure view, and higher intubation satisfaction rate, and lighter homodynamic changes during operations of tracheal intubation.
