Abstract

Objective To study the curative effect of minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) treatment of multi-fragment fracture of tibia. Methods 57 patients with tibia multi-fragment fracture were treated by indirect reduction and MIPPO. Results Followed-up period ranged from 12-36 month (21.6 month in average) in 57 patients. All the patient had union. The mean time of the bony union was 4.3-7.8 months, mean(5.1?1.8)months. The operation time was 65-135 min, average (84.7?16.8) min. The patients were evaluated in regard to function with use of Johner-Wruhs system. 39 patients had excellent results, and 14 patients good, and 4 patients fair. The satisfactory rate was 93.0%. Conclusions MIPPO is a safe and effective method for treatment of multi-fragment fracture of tibia.
