Wormald with surgical drainage tube implanted to treat recurrent frontal lesions: analysis of efficacy

Abstract

Objective To study the clinical therapeutic efficacy of Wormald with drainage tube for chronic frontal lesion. Methods Patients were divided into group A (treatment group) and group B(control group). Wormald with drainage tube was used in 32 patients in group A whereas,frontal sinustomy was used in 32 patients in group B. Sinus CT reconstruction was necessary before operation. Results Follow-up for 6 months showed that 42 sides(82% )were cured, 7 sides improved and 2 sides failed in group A whereas 35 sides(70% )were cured, 8 sides improved and 7 sides failed in group B. There was statistically significant difference between the two groups. Conclusions Modified Wormald with drainage tube for the chronic frontal lesion has significant effect.
