Anti-fatigue effects of ginseng fruit capsules in mice
Objective To investigate the anti-fatigue effect of ginseng fruit capsules in mice. Methods Mice were treated with the contents of the capsule at three doses 21, 42, 126 mg/(kg·bw) for 30 days and mice in the control group received an equivalent amount of sterile water. The anti-fatigue activity was evaluated by comparing the time of the exhaustive swimming, the levels of serum lactate and urea and the levels of hepatic glycogen. Results The exhaustive swimming time of the mice in 126 mg/(kg·bw) group was significantly longer than that of control group [(2048±1096)s vs (730±520)s,P<0.05]. The levels of serum urea [(6.33±1.15) mmol/L vs (7.57±0.97) mmol/L, P<0.05] and lactate were significantly decreased in 126 mg/(kg·bw) group, compared with control group. Conclusions In the experimental conditions, this ginseng fruit capsule can improve the tolerance of mice in fatigue campaign and has anti-fatigue function.
