Family function of recruits prone to schizophrenia

Abstract

Objective To investigate the family function of recruits prone to schizophrenia.Methods The Schizophrenia Scales of Brief MMPI for Armed Police Force of China and the Family Assessment Device (FAD) were used to investigate the recruits. Recruits with the Schizophrenia Scales T≥; 65 were screened out for proneness to schizophrenia. Family function t-test was conducted between those with schizophrenia tendency and other recruits. Family function regression analysis was made of recruits prone to schizophrenia.Results Recruits prone to schizophrenia scored more highly in communication(t=-2.357), roles (t=-2.015), affective response(t=-2.205), affective involvement(t=-2.414) and general functioning(t=-2.133) in FAD than other recruits (P<; 0.05). It was found that proneness to schizophrenia among recruits could be positively predicted by communication and roles of family functioning(the standard regressive coefficient=3.961,6.195).Conclusions Recruits prone toschizophrenia have impaired family function. Communication and roles of family functioning can positively predict recruits’proneness to schizophrenia.
