Objective To evaluate the effect of management of chronic diseases in army men with peptic ulcer diseases.Methods Eighty-two army men with peptic ulcer diseases were randomly divided into the trial group(treatment via chronic diseases management,such as establishing health records,health education,regular follow-up,medical compliance and changing unhealthy habits n=42)and the control group(conventional treatment n=40).After treatment ,ulcer healing,Hp eradication,ulcer recurrence and the awareness of peptic ulcer were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the cure rate of ulcer was 97.6％ in the trial group,but was 72.5% in the control group.The difference was statistically significant(χ²=10.34,P＜0.05).The Hp eradication rate was 92.8％ in the trial group and 60.0％ in the control group,so the difference was also of statistical significance(χ²=14.81,P＜0.05).After two years of follow-up,the rate of ulcer recurrence in the trial group was 7.1％,which was significantly lower than 22.5％ in the control group. The difference was statistically significant(χ²=3.87,P＜0.05).The patients in the trial group had a higher awareness score of peptic ulcer than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(t’=15.92,P＜0.05).Conclusions Treatment via chronic diseases management for peptic ulcer can effectively increase the healing rate,the eradication rate of Hp and the awareness score of peptic ulcer while decreasing recurrence remarkably.
