Effects of sodium cantharidate and vitamin B6 injection on serum IL-6, IL-17, TNF-α and MIF expressions in patients with breast cancer under adjuvant chemotherapy

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of sodium cantharidate and vitamin B₆ injection on levels of serum interleukin (IL)-6, IL-17, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) in patients with breast cancer under adjuvant chemotherapy.Methods One hundred and twenty-two patients with advanced breast cancer who were treated between May 2014 and June 2018 were selected as subjects and divided into the study group(n=62) and the control group (n=60) according to treatment methods. The control group received conventional chemotherapy, while the study group was additionally given sodium cantharidate and vitamin B₆ injection. The two groups were treated with chemotherapy for four cycles, and the expression levels of IL-6, IL-17, TNF-α and MIF were recorded.Results The total effective rate of the study group after chemotherapy was 67.7%, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (33.3%) (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of such toxic side effects as myelosuppression, digestive tract reaction, alopecia or thrombocytopenia between the two groups. The levels of serum IL-6, IL-17, TNF-α and MIF in the two groups were significantly lower after chemotherapy (P<0.05), especially in the study group (P<0.05). The levels of CD3⁺ and CD4⁺ in the study group were significantly higher after chemotherapy (P<0.05), especially in the study group (P<0.05), but there was no significant change in the control group after chemotherapy. KM analysis showed that the overall survival and progression-free survival of the study group were significantly longer than those of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusions The application of sodium cantharidate and vitamin B₆ injection in breast cancer adjuvant chemotherapy can inhibit the expressions of serum IL-6, IL-17, TNF-α and MIF, improve the immune function of patients and enhance the effect of chemotherapy The occurrence of toxic and side effects will not increase, thereby prolonging the survival of patients.
