Etiological diagnosis of complicated lower urinary tract infections among females

Abstract

Objective To explore the applicability of video- urodynamics (VUD) in etiological diagnosis of complicated lower urinary tract infections among females.Methods Between December 2012 and December 2018, 126 female patients with complicated lower urinary tract infections underwent VUD. The causes of the disease were identified, and the VUD characteristics patients of different causes were analyzed to guide the subsequent treatment.Results Among the 126 patients, there were 95 cases of bladder outlet obstruction including 28 cases of bladder neck obstruction, 6 cases of detrusor-sphincter dyssynergia (DSD), 61 cases of distal urethral stricture, 2 cases of bladder mass compression, 3 cases of bladder prolapse, 4 cases of urethral diverticulum, and 1 case of diverticulum with calculi.Conclusions VUD can help ensure accurate diagnosis of the etiology of complicated lower urinary tract infections among females and facilitate treatment by combining urodynamic data with synchronous imaging analysis.
