Regularities of herbal prescriptions by Professor HONG Guangxiang in treating chronic cough

Regularities of herbal prescriptions by Professor HONG Guangxiang in treating chronic cough
Objective To analyze the regularities of herbal prescriptions by Professor HONG Guangxiang, a TCM master, in treating chronic cough.Methods Prof. HONG Guangxiang’s prescriptions for chronic cough were collected. The medical information was retrieved from a cloud platform.The regularities of prescriptions for chronic cough that were given by Hong Guangxiang were analyzed via data mining technology.Results Totally, 105 patients were collected, involving 37 prescriptions and 138 types of herbs. The top five prescriptions were lung-warming decoction, Ephedra Forsythia red bean soup, Qing Yan Li Qiao soup, Orifices, and Yiqihuwei decoction. The top five herbs used were liquorice、prepared pinellia, ginger, Ephedra, Fructus aurantii immaturus, perilla leaves, Japanese metaplexis pericarp, Japanese Ardisia, mint, Platycodon grandiflorum, Asarum sieboldii, Oroxylum indicum and almond.Conclusions Based on data mining technology, it was found that Professor HONG’s approach to chronic cough is not confined to a particular prescription or drug. The same disease is treated with different methods. Different prescriptions are used in a flexible way.
