Expression and clinical significance of ABCA1 in ovarian cancer

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of ATP binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) in ovarian cancer.Methods Two hundred and twelve patients who were admitted into Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from January 2016 to December 2020 were selected , (106 patients with ovarian cancer as the experimental group and 106 patients with benign ovarian tumor as the control group). Fasting elbow venous blood was collected routinely, and the blood lipid contents (triglyceride (CHO), total cholesterol (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL)between the two groups were analyzed by enzyme oxidation method; tissue samples were collected immediately after surgical resection. The expression of ABCA1 in tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry and western-blot; Kaplan Meier survival analysis was used to estimate the relationship between ABCA1 expression and patient survival, and log rank method was used for further verification.Results Compared with the control group, the blood lipid levels (CHO, TG, HDL, LDL) in peripheral blood of patients with ovarian cancer were significantly lower (P<0.01); ABCA1 was expressed in ovarian cancer and benign ovarian tumors, and the expression in ovarian cancer (0.15±0.02) was significantly higher than that in the control group (0.06±0.01, P<0.01).Conclusions ABCA1 is closely related with the pathogenesis of ovarian cancer, which may participate in the occurrence and development of ovarian cancer by regulating the lipid metabolism of ovarian cancer, and then affect the prognosis of patients.
