Abstract

Objective To analyze the composition of thyroid related diseases in an outpatient department of endocrinology and to provide evidence for subsequent disease research and diagnosis and treatment. Methods The data of patients with thyroid diseases diagnosed and treated in in a hospital in Shenyang from January 2018 to December 2022 were analyzed. With the initial diagnosis as the thyroid disease classification criteria, the data of patients' age, sex and follow-up were analyzed retrospectively. Results The first three types of thyroid diseases were hyperthyroidism (49.28%), thyroid nodules (22.81%) and hypothyroidism (21.47%). The prevalence of thyroid diseases was high in two age groups of 41-50 (23.98%) and 51-60 (23.23%), but low in age groups below 18(2.31%) and over 70(2.75%). The ratio of male to female was 1∶4.21. Hyperthyroidism was most common in ages 41 to 50(23.63%), followed by 31 to 40(22.11%). The incidence of thyroid nodules was the highest in 41-50 years old (29.00%) and 51-60 years old (28.08%). The incidence of hypothyroidism increased gradually after adulthood, and the highest rate was 26.50% at the age of 51-60. Conclusions Thyroid diseases are common in middle-aged women and menopausal ones, and different thyroid diseases have their own disease characteristics.
