Incidence of training-related injuries in Armed Police recruits and preventive treatment
Objective To analyze the incidence of training-related injuries among the recruits of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force (PAPF) during unified training in order to contribute to the prevention and treatment of such injuries. Methods 1420 recruits were selected as subjects for this study. The data was collected from the daily records of outpatient registration. SPSS21.0 was used to analyze the data. Training-related injuries were classified with reference to Diagnostic and Classification Standard for Military Training Injury of PLA.Results The incidence of training-related injuries was 20.14%. The incidence of acute injuries was 23.78%. Joint sprain and chronic injuries accounted for 44.12% and 13.24% of acute injuries. Excessive fatigue injuries made up 76.22% of acute injuries. Fatigue fracture accounted for 28.67% of excessive fatigue injuries, followed by traumatic arthritis tendinitis and tenosynovitis. The incidence of training-related injures reached the peak during the sixth and the tenth weeks, which accounted for 51.74% of the total injuries. The incidence of training-related injures was lower in recruits from cities (13.57%) than in those from rural areas (21.75%), and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions During the training of recruits, most of the injuries occur during the sixth and the tenth weeks. There are more fatigue injuries than acute injuries.Attention should be paid to the prevention of injuries among rural recruits. The training approach should be individualized.Targeted prevention can reduce the incidence of training-related injuries.
